The Eco Club Wangkhao Government College Mon organized Lai & Bamboo plantation cum Social Work on 28th April 2023 under the project of “Clean and Green Campus” for the 4th and 2nd Semester 2023.
Calathia allouia or Lai (in local dialect) is a plant used by the indigenous group of Konyak nagas mostly for kitchen purpose, packaging and for markets while bamboo is commonly used by the ethnic group for construction and in the making of crafts. The motive for Lai and Bamboo plantation is to go for sustainable environment and a greener campus.
Students of 2nd and 4th semester 2023 and the teaching faculties numbering around 430 took active participation in the project “Clean and Green Campus” where students were allocated specific areas according to groups with teaching faculties as taking the charge of the work.
