Optimising ICT Tools & Office File Procedure

ICT & Website Committee Conducted a “One Day Staff Training Workshop on Optimising ICT Tools & Office File Procedure” on the 8th of October 2021. The workshop began with a welcome note by Dr. Esther P Konyak, Convener, ICT & Website Committee. She also highlighted that the aim of the workshop, to provide hands-on experience to the staff on basic MS Word Tools, MS Excel Tools, Office File Index & Filing Movement and Office Accounts.

The 1st Session began with the Resource Person Mr. Manyeih Konyak, NETTEC Computer Training Centre, Mon, with a brief introduction to MS Word. He covered various topics including Document manipulation and formatting, Data Presentation, Collaboration and Efficiency. His session was followed by basic introduction of MS Excel and its importance in data handling by Mr. Mankhah Konyak W, NETTEC Computer Training Centre, Mon. He explained lucidly the use of simple functions like sum, average, product, division, max., min., text functions and various ways of formatting the entered data.

The 2nd Session focussed on Office Filing and Indexing by Mr. Pangao, LDA, District Administration, Mon. He stressed on the meaning, objectives and functions of Filing Systems. He described the basic classification of Files and different methods of Filing. He further illustrated on Indexing and its meaning and purpose. He concluded that in every office, various files are maintained for different departments on various types. Therefore, proper maintenance of Filing and Indexing is key to smooth functioning of office. Mr. Khonge, Sr. LDA, District Administration, Mon spoke on pre-check and passing of bills and issue of cheques for payment; check of classification in compilation book of vouchers to ensure correctness of posting; preparation and submission of monthly accounts and final settlements of pension and other retirement benefits, GPF, leave encashment, etc.

Interaction allowed participants to clear their doubts and provide the feedback. The workshop ended with the Vote of Thanks by Mr. Manwang Konyak, Member, ICT & Website Committee.
