A ne day workshop on vermicompost was conducted for the students enrolled under the RUSA Vocational Course on Horticulture 2017-18.

Vermicomposting is the scientific method of making compost by using earthworms. As earth worms feed on organic waste materials and give out excreta in the form of  “vermicasts” that are rich in nitrates and thereby fertilize and enhance the soil.

Students were given a hands on training as they cut jungle waste from the surrounding greenery of the campus and prepared the compost pit with organic matter. The aim of the workshop was to produce vermicompost using earthworms and other biodegradable wastes.
